Well, I didn’t make my goal to run/walk/bike 30 miles this past week like I had said I would, but I’ve been feeling really good lately with my exercise regime. I finally fell under 185lbs after months of remaining stuck there. I’m not sure if it was my being able to run faster in less time the past week, my adding more strength training to my week, watching my eating habits more carefully or the fact I decided to participate in Heidi and Chris Powell’s Diet Bet. Whatever the reason, I’m happy to get off the plateau. Finally! It was probably a combination of all. =)
I also decided recently to give myself a new challenge and run 50 races by the time I’m 50. I’ve got 12 completed so far between “real” races here in Texas and some virtual races where you can run wherever you are. The virtual races are via US Road Running, Virtual Running and Fit4LifeRaceSeries where you pick the race and pay to receive your bib and medal. It’s all on the honor system so if you cheat, you’re only doing it to yourself! I’m really enjoying challenging myself to push harder and go faster. My ultimate goal is to be a steady 12-13min mile pace. I know I can do it! Here is a list of my upcoming races so far for 2014. I keep track of them using an app called Race Addict.
Yesterday, I ran my fastest pace using the 5KForever app. It’s really helping me with interval training on stepping up my pace. So far, so good and I’m THRILLED to run further more quickly. I’m still happy today. I guess those endorphins really do carry over. Check out my 5K record pic below! WOOHOO!
So, the lesson I’ve learned the past few months of exercising regularly and doing all the right things is that sometimes you need to mix it up to keep losing weight. Bottom line, NEVER GIVE UP! =)
Have a great week everyone!
