February 22: Today in Texas History #txhx

1819 – The Adams-Onís Treaty was signed by John Quincy Adams for the United States and by Louis de Onís for Spain, renouncing the United States claim to Texas. Boundaries were set and when Mexico declared independence from Spain before the treaty was ratified, Spain refused to recognize the established boundary line.
