I’ve decided to “give up” Twitter, Facebook and even Google+ for Lent. Yes, you read that right. I shake with fear in hitting publish to post this blog entry. And because I’m *that* scared I could fail at keeping my promise, I know I need to do it and will delete all my apps, notifications and bookmarks to help keep me in line. It’ll be like 1999 all over again. HA!
Lent challenges us to sacrifice something that we love in order to find reflection in our lives. Let’s face it, I love social media. It is my hope that by Easter Sunday 2013, I will see life through different eyes.
My Lenten sacrifice this year will take place during a bloggers retreat, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, the Remember Andrew Breitbart event in Houston, five (5) days of CPAC, Spring Break and countless other events and pictures of my cats sleeping that I’ll want to share with you on Facebook and Twitter, but can’t because of my challenge.
I can do this, right?! RIGHT?! It’s only 46 days. 🙂
My plan during Lent is to spend more time offline with family and friends. You will see me more, people! 🙂 I also plan to write about my no social media experience journey here on my blog that will include “Today in Texas History’ posts, book and movie reviews and other important news I find from Smart Girl Politics and everyone else’s blogs that I receive on my daily RSS feeds.
I think I am up for this challenge! Are you giving anything up for lent? Please share in the comments section below. And don’t forget to sign up to receive my blog postings via email or RSS feed since I won’t be bombarding you with links on twitter, FB or G+. You can tho! 🙂
This will be an adventure. Here we go! See you online in April! 🙂 xox
