Election Day is only 5 days away. Five days. For me, it is the most important election of my lifetime because my blissful ignorance of years past is now wide awake to the outrageous and irresponsible power my votes have given elected officials.
Despite my shock at the eye opening experience of now paying attention to bills being presented in Congress and politics in general, I still have hope that change will begin with Election Day this coming Tuesday. I had hope in 2008 as well, although I wasn’t really sure why, other than I was tired of all the rhetoric. Unfortunately, it only became worse.
It won’t be easy, but it can be done if we believe and trust in the fundamentals that make America the greatest nation on Earth. Now. Let’s see if we can all put aside that partisan rhetoric. ALL sides.
Facts are harsh with our economy because of the government spending of the past decade that was made worse over the past 4 years. Yes, it could be worse, but it could be and should be better. Math is hard, but balancing a check book is easy unless you’re the government spending our hard earned taxpayer dollars.
Do we not hold those who have the power for change accountable? If you make a promise and don’t keep it, is that acceptable? We all make mistakes, but when is it too much?
If you hired an employee who doesn’t do the job they were hired to do, what do you do? Give them a raise? No. More responsibility? No. You tell them what needs to be done and when they don’t meet the requirements of the position, you let them go and hire the next best qualified applicant.
And guess what. Our President, Vice-President and all elected congressional officials are OUR employees. Hold them all accountable.
A wise friend said recently:
As early voting kicks off, I leave you with this. Vote your guiding principles, regardless of the individual or party that may lead you to. Your vote is YOUR vote–don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. It is a decision you make (and ultimately will be judged on) by evaluating ALL candidates on the alignment of their ideology and ACTIONS with your beliefs. Never settle …
Don’t settle. You’re worth it as is your financial future and that of your children and grandchildren.
Don’t leave it to someone else, you ARE someone else!
